How should I dress for a day in the field?

Daytime temperatures can change dramatically depending on your elevation and whether you're hiking in the
shady or sunny side of the canyons. Because of these wide ranges, it is a good idea to dress in layers.
Layering allows you to add or remove clothing as the temperature changes.
A tank top and a down jacket provide clothing for only two temperature
extremes; a T-shirt with a long underwear top, a sweater and a fleece
jacket allow you to regulate for many changing weather conditions
throughout the day. Wear non-cotton items that will keep you warm
when wet, and always be prepared for rain. Clothing that is functional, comfortable and allows you to move easily is
best.
