Ranger stations do not accept food packages. Arrangements for hiker food caches can be made in the following manner:

1. Hikers may contact one of the approved commercial pack station operations and arrange for food to be delivered to a certain place at a certain time. Use of cans and bottles in these food drops is a poor practice because people usually bury or leave behind the things they don’t want to carry. Please don’t have any items packed in that you are unwilling to carry out. See below for information on how to contact pack station operators.

2. The Post Offices in Yosemite National Park will accept food packages both in Yosemite Valley (open year round) and at Tuolumne Meadows (open approximately June 15 through September 15). Packages should be addressed to a person, c/o General Delivery, name of Post Office, and zip code. Packages should be marked "Hold for Hiker Until (date)."  Please do not send perishables.  Packages containing food should be marked so that postal employees will know to store it properly.
