Answer: Trash should not be burned in the wilderness, because it leaves remains (aluminum foil in particular) that build up over time. No campfires are allowed above 9600 feet in elevation because conditions can be so harsh that the trees could not support the firewood habits of all of us backpackers. Also campfires should be built only in existing fire rings. |
